New intake structure
The Northern Development Initiative Trust board, regional advisory committees and staff have a passion for growing the economy of central and northern British Columbia. When the Premier of British Columbia announced the Northern Development Initiative Trust, it was on the premise that, “The best economic development decisions for the North should be made in the North.”
Northern Development is an independent, non-profit corporation; a catalyst stimulating economic growth through investments in grassroots, community-led projects.

BC Association of Farmers’ Markets receives $20,000 marketing grant to celebrate and market the delightful food produced, grown, made, and sold at farmer’s markets around the province. The Marketing Initiatives program assists with encouraging a community or region to take advantage of opportunities that support economic vitality and diversification.

Northern Development Initiative Trust has a team comprised of a volunteer board of thirteen directors that is supported by a team of professionals centrally located in Prince George, B.C. Of the thirteen directors, eight are elected local government representatives, two from each of the four regions. Five of the directors are appointed by the Province of British Columbia based on their previous business leadership abilities to round out the board. The staff members have a wealth of career experience in both the public and private sectors in central and northern B.C.
