Startup Canada Town Hall To Feature Prominent Local Entrepreneurs – Come and hear their story!

Startup Canada is Canada’s first-ever, entrepreneur-led, national movement to enhance the nation’s competitiveness and prosperity by supporting and celebrating Canadian entrepreneurship.

Startup Canada is harnessing the collective energies of Canadian entrepreneurs by conducting a national tour running from March to September 2012. The tour lands in Prince George on Monday, September 17th, 2012 and will kick off with a town hall event at the University of Northern British Columbia.

Entrepreneurs, students and future business leaders are invited to the town hall to hear a panel of successful local business leaders share their journey of entrepreneurship and what it takes to be successful in northern B.C. The panel includes:

Brian Fehr – CEO, BID Group of Companies

The BID Group’s original business, founded in 1983, began in construction and fabrication for sawmills in northern B.C. Thirty years later, the BID Group is a home grown success story with design-build construction projects throughout North America and around the world.

Kathy Mckay – Managing Partner/Owner – Environmental Dynamics Inc. (EDI)

EDI is a Prince George-based, employee-owned company providing environmental and natural resource consulting services. EDI was awarded the 2012 Environmental Employer of the Year. With offices in Alberta and the Yukon, EDI is a company on the move.

Darby Kreitz – CEO, Allnorth Consultants Ltd.

Since 1978, Allnorth Consultants Limited has been providing consulting services to the mining, pulp and paper, chemical, oil and gas, marine, transportation, power and municipal sectors across Canada. Allnorth was recently added to Business in Vancouver’s top 100 fastest growing businesses. In 2011, Darby was also award Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year.

Will Cadell – Lead Consultant/Owner, Sparkgeo

Sparkgeo specializes in building customized geoweb applications, geographic analysis, web development, training and project management for clients in Canada and the U.S. Will moved from Scotland to Prince George in 2005 in search of adventure and the big wilderness, he found both.

Each Prince George entrepreneur will share their unique entrepreneurial journey with a focus on starting and growing a business in northern B.C. The entrepreneur panel will be followed by a town hall session led by Rick Spence, a feature columnist with the National Post. The event is open to the public, however pre-registration is required.
