Northern Development Initiative Trust’s board of directors has approved $500,000 in funding through its Economic Diversification Infrastructure program to support the development of two economic development projects in the region.

Northern Development has already approved nearly $2.5 million in new funding in 2014, and has increased its annual grant allocation limit and updated several funding programs

Fraser Lake, B.C. – Northern Development Initiative Trust’s board of directors has approved a $171,394 grant to support upgrades to Fraser Lake’s airport, which will position the community to better capitalize on nearby resource industry and tourism opportunities. The upgrades include new signage, security fencing and a mobile trailer, which will be utilized as an office.

In only five years, Northern Development Initiative Trust’s internship programs have generated rewarding careers for two-dozen recent University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) graduates.
