Business Development Internship

Program overview

The Business Development Internship program is an opportunity to replicate the successes observed in the Local Government and First Nations Government Internship program in North’s business development sector. The program will provide grant funding for Community Futures Offices within the Northern Development service area to host an intern for 12 months.

This internship program will provide accelerated professional development in the field of business development and entrepreneurship while enhancing the capacity of the Community Futures offices across Northern B.C.

Program objectives

The internship program objectives are:

  • Increase capacity of Community Futures offices across the Northern Development service region
  • Stimulate economic growth through business development opportunities
  • Accelerate career growth for emerging professionals in business and economic development
  • Build opportunities for succession in the business development sector in the northern region

Why Community Futures?

Community Futures provides financing alternatives to small and medium enterprises when access to credit is a challenge to starting or growing their business. Different than a bank, Community Futures uses different lending criteria, focusing on rural development and providing business financing to small local businesses. We also work in partnership with other business lenders, educational institutions, not-for-profits and community governments to grow and diversify the local economy.
