Economic Development Capacity Building funding provides up to $35,000 annually from the Cross Regional account to municipalities and regional districts. This funding is provided each year to build economic development capacity throughout central and northern British Columbia.
Communities are encouraged to partner on economic development projects, as at least $5,000 of the annual funding provided must be used to fund a project that is collaborative with another municipality, regional district, First Nations band, tourism or industry association, or Northern Development. Of the total $35,000 available, funds not identified for collaborative projects can be directed to support economic development activities that are incremental to the municipality’s or regional district’s base economic development budget.
