Janine North
Chief Executive Officer

Janine North is the founding CEO of the Northern Development Initiative Trust.  Ms. North was previously a senior advisor to the BC Forest Safety Council, a management consultant to banks and resource industry companies, a Forest District Manager, and the General Manager of a consortium of logging, trucking and road construction companies.

Ms. North is a director on the British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority, and a governor on the Business Council of British Columbia. She previously chaired the Nechako-Kitamaat Development Fund and served as Vice Chair of the Central Interior Logging Association and Vice President of the Agricultural Institute of Canada.  Janine is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors, and is an accredited corporate director.

Her commitment to excellence has been recognized through being honoured by Business in Vancouver’s Influential Women in Business Awards (2010), Northern BC Woman of Influence and Impact (2009), Northern BC Mentor of the Year to Industry and Business (2010), Northern BC Newsmaker of the Year Northwest Powerline Coalition (Co-Chair) (2010), and Central Interior Logging Association Contractor of the Year (2004)


 

Dennis Callaghan
Chief Financial Officer

Dennis Callaghan joined the Northern Development executive staff team in the fall of 2009, with several years of experience as a controller for northern companies involved in the manufacturing and construction sectors. Dennis also has a wealth of experience in project management, the creation and management of public / private partnerships, and the development and execution of strategic planning.  Dennis acts as a key point of contact for businesses, communities, and non-profit organizations in Northern Development's Prince George region (see regional map).

Dennis holds a Masters degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Northern British Columbia, in addition to a Certified Management Accountant designation.

 Brodie Guy, Economic Development Manager

Brodie Guy
Regional Director, Marketing (Regional Investments Website Projects - 2012)

Having worked closely with communities, businesses, First Nations, and non-profits in his role as a Regional Manager since 2008, Brodie Guy now spearheads marketing and online strategy for Northern Development.  In this role, Brodie also leads regional investment attraction marketing initiatives for Northern Development in partnership with communities and private sector companies throughout central and northern BC. 

Prior to joining Northern Development, Brodie held marketing and business development positions in the cleantech, biotech, wood products manufacturing, and the public sector.  Brodie has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Victoria where he majored in Entrepreneurial Studies.

Dean McKinley
Regional Director, Economic Development

Dean McKinley is the Regional Director acting as a key point of contact for businesses, communities and non-profit organizations in Northern Development's Northeast, Northwest and Cariboo-Chilcotin/Lillooet regions(see regional map).

Dean has fifteen years of project and program management experience with various Provincial agencies in the recreation and tourism sector as well as several years of experience as a consultant in resort and marina development and management.  Dean has also worked with developers to build economic partnerships with First Nations and with First Nations directly in an economic development role.

Renata King
Regional Director, Business Development

Renata King is a certified management consultant (CMC) specializing in business and community development. She started her career in Toronto with the Hudson Bay Company moving through a number of management positions until she took over as General Manager of the Toronto Distribution Center – the first female executive in distribution in the company’s 325 year history.

After moving her young family to BC in 1994, Renata became the Executive Director, Economic Development for the North Okanagan region. In 2000, Renata joined the Business Development Bank of Canada and spent ten years consulting to hundreds of small and medium sized business throughout BC and Western Canada. She became BDC’s Vice President, Consulting in 2006 and initiated the Business Competitiveness Program with Northern Development. Renata will be expanding the business programs to support entrepreneurs in the central and northern region.

Karen Borden, Executive Coordinator 

Karen Borden
Executive Coordinator

Karen Borden has been Executive Coordinator to the Board and staff of Northern Development Initiative Trust since its inception in 2005. She has over twenty-five years of executive administrative experience in both the public and private sectors.  Karen has previous experience with regional economic development as the Executive Assistant to the Ministers’ Advisory Group, Softwood Industry Community Economic Adjustment Initiative. She and her family have lived in Prince George since 1989, and she enjoys the many benefits that living in northern BC offers.

Holly Hill
Financial Analyst

Born and raised in Fort St. John, Holly attended Carleton University in Ottawa, earning her Bachelor of Computer Science degree with a minor in mathematics. Since then she has developed software for a wide range of clients, including silviculture companies, financial institutions, and the Canadian Navy. Holly has experience in every step of the software life cycle, from requirements gathering and design, through development and quality assurance to training and technical support. She came home to northern BC in 2004, and has recently decided to pursue new challenges in the field of accounting, joining the Certified General Accountant program.

 

Jeanette Stanley
Client Services Clerk

Jeanette joined Northern Development Initiative Trust in 2008.  She brings with her more than fifteen years of office experience and has held various administrative and financial positions in the construction, oil and gas, education, and not-for-profit industries.

Born and raised in Prince George, Jeanette returned to northern BC after spending five years in southern Alberta.  She is an advocate of lifelong education and continues to pursue learning opportunities through various courses.

Tess Elo
Accounting Coordinator

Tess Elo has been a valued member of the Northern Development team since 2006. Her duties include contract development, payment processing, and aiding in internal and external financial reporting. She is pursuing her career in the accounting sector and is currently attending the University of Northern British Columbia where she is majoring in General Business and Accounting.  Tess was born and raised in Vanderhoof, BC and moved into Prince George in 2005.  

 

Jennifer Sumner
Finance and Administration Clerk

Jennifer has a strong background in administration along with many years of experience in northern BC’s industrial economy.  She recently graduated from the College of New Caledonia with a diploma in Accounting and Finance and is currently completing her second diploma in Management Studies.  Northern BC has been home to Jennifer since 1977, and she and her family enjoy spending time together partaking in a wide variety of outdoor activities.
