Northern Development's Board has approved over $101.6 million in committed funding to 860 projects since its inception as an initiative of the Province of British Columbia in 2005.

The commitments have leveraged other sources of funding for a total investment value of over $1.03 billion
For every $1 of approved funding by the Board, there is $9.17 in funding from other sources (1009% leveraging)
74% of the investments are in small communities with populations of less than 5,000
48% of funds approved are loans and 52% are grants
Twenty-eight businesses in the region have committed to creating 1,111 new jobs with a total investment of over $185 million in new capital equipment and training with the support of Northern Development's business programs
Northern Development's Northern Industry Expansion Program has invested $2.6 million in loan guarantees to seven manufacturing and logistics businesses which are expanding with $23.3 million in new investment in the region
Northern Development is managing $30 million in loans and grants for the Federal Economic Action Plan - Community Adjustment Fund

Economic performance measures for individual project investments such as job creation, new revenues, spending in our local economy, increases to the tax base, new business start-ups, and project-specific measures will be reported for five years by each project and aggregated in Northern Development's Annual Report.

Approved Projects

Northern Development’s Board has approved 860 projects as of December 31st, 2011 across the four development regions. These projects are listed by year and are reported in Annual Approved Project Reports. Please note – these reports include projects that were approved prior to the Board establishing its current policy framework.
